Talk Read Sing.

This idea stretches way beyond traditional “advertising” and applies itself to an emergent issue affecting families juggling with increasingly busy lives. The “Talking Is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing” campaign from Goodby Silverstein & Partners could have ended up as a regular Community Service Announcement. Instead, the end product saw the agency create a unique dedicated clothing line, a onesie for the baby, a blanket and a bath towel all designed by GS&P.

Research undertaken in Oakbank, California had revealed that fewer than half of parents and caregivers surveyed were report reading to their children every day, and even fewer report talking about their day and singing to their children. These activities have been shown to have a profound impact on the early learning of very young children, whose brains develop approximately 80 percent of their capacity by age three.

“Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing” became a multimedia campaign that is working to help parents understand that they have the power to boost their children’s vocabulary through simple actions every day – like talking about things seen on a walk, or singing songs together during bathtime. Using social media, books, videos and information from expert partners, Talking is Teaching shares fun and easy ways that parents can improve their babies’ learning.
