If this was the Eighties, there would probably be an acronym to describe dog walking coffee lovers. Certainly if you’re an owner of a coffee shop in Sydney’s inner suburbs, they’re a valuable customer segment. Time on their hands, money to spend…

This morning, on my now regular walk with my four legged companion, I witnessed the most simple example of great customer service. As we sat down in the sun and ordered a frankly ludicrously priced coffee, the charming waitress said “would you like me to get some water for your dog?”.

The coffee was ordinary, the raisin toast dry and tasteless, but I enjoyed every second and left a tip. Love me, love my dog. Simples.
